About this event

On March 18th, Scott Sternberg will be talking about Quantum Technologies and Impact on Colorado Economy for a in-person and hybrid lunch event for our DABE members.

Scott serves as the Executive Director of the CUbit Quantum Initiative at the University of Colorado Boulder where he leads efforts to enhance CU Boulder’s leadership in Quantum Information Science and Technology (QIST). His work focusses on collaborating with regional universities, federal laboratories, and quantum-intensive companies, and promoting QIST interests at local, regional, and national levels.

Previously, Scott served as the Executive Director of the Boulder Economic Council and Associate Vice President for Economic Vitality at the Boulder Chamber of Commerce where he supported business recruitment, retention, and networking, while also liaising with key statewide organizations to foster regional economic development.

From 2009 to 2017, Sternberg served as President of Vaisala Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Vaisala OYJ, overseeing the governance and expansion of the company's largest subsidiary in atmospheric and industrial observation. Prior to his role as President, Scott held the position of Executive Vice President-Services, where they led global customer service operations.

Earlier in his career, Scott held several positions at Roper Scientific/Photometrics, Ltd. (now Roper Technologies) where he contributed to the development of digital camera-based bioscience research platforms and played a pivotal role in positioning Photometrics for its successful sale to Roper Industries.

Aside from his direct business experience, Sternberg has been actively engaged throughout his career in service to economic development, research and technology initiatives and environmental sustainability goals. He was Chair of the Board of Directors for CO-LABS, served on the Board of Trustees for the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) and was a member of the External Advisory Board for the School of Global Environmental Sustainability at Colorado State University.

Scott holds both a BS and MS in Physics from SUNY, College at Cortland and Colorado State University respectively.
